One of the most beloved, most destructive and greatest opening batsmen of his era, Virender Sehwag was part of the Indian cricket team that won the inaugural ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2007. The right-handed batsman recently recalled partying with Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan Khan, who must have been nine years old at that time, after the World Cup win and how he kept the latter entertained, impressing Bollywood’s ‘Baadshah’.

In an episode of Fever FM‘s Beyond The Boundary podcast, Sehwag recalled that when Shah Rukh Khan arrived at their after-party, everyone enthusiastically gathered around him. “That’s when I noticed that Aryan was sitting alone. So, I went and sat next to him. We talked for quite some time. I even told him to advise his father not to do certain things. He responded, asking, ‘He’s my dad, how can I tell him such things?’ We had so much fun. Even now, whenever we meet, Shah Rukh Khan fondly recalls how I entertained his son.”

Pointing out that Shah Rukh Khan has long entertained everyone, including the cricketer, the interviewer asked if Sehwag wished to entertain SRK for once. Hearing this, the cricketer, under the impression that the song featured Shah Rukh, started singing the track “Tu Jaane Na” from the movie Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles.

The Khan family’s passion for cricket is well-known, with Shah Rukh Khan co-owning the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). During the IPL 2024 final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, SRK arrived with his wife Gauri Khan and their children — Aryan, Suhana and AbRam — to support their team as it faced the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and eventually emerged victorious.
