Filmmaker Farah Khan has revealed veteran actor Rekha was the only artiste who rehearsed for three days for her special appearance in the star-studded Om Shanti Om track “Deewangi Deewangi”. Composed by Vishal-Shekhar with lyrics by Javed Akhtar, the track from the 2007 film featured cameos by 31 actors of the Hindi film industry.

Talking on the YouTube channel of IFTDA Official, Farah recalled how she brought together so many stars for this one song in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer. Farah also spoke about how Rekha, who was one of the few veteran actors to have appeared in the song, and shared that she was the only one who came for rehearsals for three days, which left Farah quite confused. She revealed how the 69-year-old was sincere in her approach to filming the song, being punctual, wearing her own saree and doing her own make-up.

“Rekha ji was the only one, who rehearsed. For three days she came fore rehearsals, even we were wondering why. We were like ‘what do we rehearse with her?!’ But she said, ‘No I have to come and do it.’ Sweetly she came, did rehearsal, wore her own saree, did her own make up and said, ‘Sharp 3 pm I will come out.’ Some people would come late as well,” she quipped.

The song featured stars like Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Dharmendra, Priyanka Chopra, Kajol, Tabu, Rani Mukerji, Vidya Balan, Preity Zinta, Bobby Deol and Lara Dutta among others.

On the work front, Farah Khan last directed the 2014 comedy Happy New Year, which was headlined by her Om Shanti Om star pair Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone. She is likely to return to direction with a new action-comedy film set in the similar space of her debut Main Hoon Na and has approached Shah Rukh for the same.
