Kajal Aggarwal is ready to land some punches. Makers of Telugu thriller Satyabhama on Friday dropped the trailer of the film, which features the actor as a cop. The movie is written and directed by Suman Chikkala.

The nearly three-minute-long trailer begins with Kajal witnessing a murder. Though she tries hard to nab the killer, she fails and is ultimately pulled up by her seniors. The case remains unsolved and continues to haunt Kajal, who is taken off the investigation. The move has a ripple effect on her life, as everything goes haywire.

The situation, however, takes a turn when Kajal gets onto the mission again. This time with a renewed vigor, she kicks, punches and smashes every object coming her way. According to the film’s synopsis, Satyabhama offers an “intimate look” into the life of a committed and hardworking police officer, Satya, as she takes on a case that speaks personally to her.

In an earlier interview with indianexpress.com, writer Sashi Kiran Tikka had revealed that Kajal Aggarwal’s name popped up during the writing of the film itself and the team unanimously agreed that she was fit for the part.

“This is a character that we wrote wherein we wanted a hero from a commercial space, who has done a lot of mainstream commercial cinema because while shaping up the character, there was a lot of commerciality to it. At the same time there is a lot of softness, vulnerability and emotion to the character. When we were writing, we thought of many actors. But the moment we thought of Kajal, the script started going really well. We didn’t know if she is going to agree or not but once we had a good story in place, we met her,” Sashi Kiran Tikka had said.

Satyabhama is set to release on June 7. It will be the first release of the year for Kajal Aggarwal, who will also be seen in Kamal Haasan starrer Indian 2 later in July.
