Central Pulse are lapping up the advice of one of Australia's best, as they prepare for their ANZ Premiership clash with Northern Stars.

"It's been a great week being here on court and getting the opportunity to work with the shooters," said former Diamonds captain Vicki Wilson, who is now working with the competition frontrunners as a shooting coach and mentor.

Her addition comes at a good time, with the Pulse playing winning netball, despite the loss of key players attacker Tiana Metuarau and midcourt Maddy Gordon through injury.

"Its been really tough on the group, but it just goes to show what resolve the girls have and their utter belief," she said. "What's impressed me the most is their ability adapt."

Adapting is something this weekend's opponents know all about. Injuries have prompted the Stars to call on training partners to play, as they still search for their first win.

"We just need to learn how to win and I think we have a lot of younger players who are first-time experiencing what it's like to play in critical moments," said midcourt Mila Reuelu-Buchanan.

The teams met in the competition's opening round, with the Pulse winning by seven - ironically, the Stars' biggest losing margin this season.

"I believe in us, i believe that we are able to win," said Reuelu-Buchanan. "I believe that we can perform for the full 60 minutes and I hope you are able to see that this weekend."

They'll need that belief if they're to stop the Pulse this Saturday.
