Cricketer Gautam Gambhir credits his longstanding equation with superstar Shah Rukh Khan to absolute trust between the two, which he says has helped not only strengthen their bond but also helped the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) achieve glory. In his latest stint with KKR, Gautam is the mentor of the Shah Rukh-owned cricket team. In an interview, the cricketer said Shah Rukh can “feel the struggle of others” as he himself has risen from the ground.
Gautam told Sportskeeda, “Sometimes, when you haven’t struggled in your life you can’t see the hardships of others. Whether it is SRK or anyone else who has achieved great things in life, especially with struggles, that person will always identify that about others. Because they have kept themselves in that position. So understanding the struggles of others is important because you’ve gone through those struggles yourself.”
Gautam Gambhir said he has had a “fabulous” relationship with Shah Rukh Khan and called him the best owner he has worked with in IPL. The reason, the cricketer said, wasn’t only because he is “pretty grounded”.
“Sports is a big leveler. There are no retakes here unlike the movies. He hasn’t interfered in cricketing matters and it’s a huge thing for someone like me because you have the freedom of decision making, that trust that whatever decision I take, I know he’s going to back me. That’s why we have got the results as well. My relationship with him has been fantastic since 2011 when I joined KKR for the first time. SRK is an emotion, so is KKR. A relationship is long lasting if its foundation is trust,” he added.

With 11 matches over so far, KKR is at the top of the table, displaying an incredible form. Shah Rukh Khan has been a regular at most of the matches, often seen with his children, AbRam or Suhana Khan.
After a busy 2023 with three releases—Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki—the actor will soon begin his next, The King. The actioner will mark the big screen debut of Suhana and reportedly star Shah Rukh as a don. The film, directed by Sujoy Ghosh, is set to go on floors next month and is eyeing a 2025 release.
