The year 2024 has been exceptionally rewarding for Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, marked by consecutive significant projects. Following widespread acclaim for his role in the epic survival drama Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) and a comeback to Bollywood after an 11-year hiatus with the action thriller Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, he is now gearing up for the release of his third film this year, director Vipin Das’ comedy drama Guruvayoorambala Nadayil.

Joining Prithviraj here is a stellar cast including Basil Joseph, Anaswara Rajan, Yogi Babu, Nikhila Vimal, Jagadish and Baiju Santhosh. The film’s recently released teaser promises a hilarious ride, with Prithviraj venturing back into comedy after a prolonged interval.

Director Vipin Das, who rose to nationwide acclaim with Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, recently opened up about Prithviraj’s character Anand and addressed concerns about it being too loud or exaggerated. “Since the teaser’s release, the most common query has been about his character. My answer to this is that, you will understand why he’s like this when you watch the movie. Even his distinctive posture, hands on hips, will make sense in context and once you watch the film, you will realise it’s one of the major highlights. His character is like that,” he said during a chat with Galatta Plus.

“It is because their characters were presented in such a way that anything Rajesh (Basil Joseph) and Ani (Azees Nedumangad) from Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey said evoked laughter immediately. We have adopted a similar strategy here too. I am sure it will be fun,” he added.

The director also shared his team’s reaction to Prithviraj’s performance in the film. “Many people have this doubt as to how Prithviraj will handle comedy; even I and Prithviraj himself had the same concern initially. We all, including me, the technicians and the producers, watched the first draft of the film and afterwards, we unanimously agreed that Prithviraj’s portrayal left the strongest impression. We did not expect that. Just as Aadujeevitham introduced a new Prithviraj, Guruvayoorambala Nadayil too will present another fresh version of Prithviraj,” he mentioned.

Penned by Deepu Pradeep, Guruvayoorambala Nadayil is jointly produced by Prithviraj Productions and E4 Entertainment, and the film will hit the screens on May 16.
