Kiku Sharda has been a pivotal role in comedian Kapil Sharma’s shows for several years now. He now plays the character of Chef Dhaniya Lal in Kapil’s new sketch comedy show, The Great Indian Kapil Show. In a recent interview, Kiku spoke about Kapil Sharma’s unique style of humour and praised his spontaneity. He also shared how he remains ‘amazed’ by Kapil’s presence of mind and his quick wit.
In an interaction with Connect FM Cannada, Kiku spoke about Kapil’s USP and said, “He has a level of spontaneity. I am sometimes shocked to see his spontaneity. The way he talks to the audience and he can really talk about anything. I am amazed to see how he finds humour in the smallest things. The spontaneity that he has, I have never seen it ever in my life.”
When asked what Kiku has and Kapil doesn’t, the actor joked, “A lot of weight… a nice belly.”
In the same interview, Kiku delved into the dynamics within The Great Indian Kapil team, addressing the potential for ego clashes during scenes involving the cast. He emphasised the seamless camaraderie among them, highlighting Kapil’s openness to jests aimed at each other. He said, “Even on screen, when you see me cracking some witty jokes on Kapil… he welcomes it wholeheartedly. We share a comfortable rapport, having worked together for many years. I hold him in the highest regard.”
The Great Indian Kapil Show is currently running on Netflix. It recently aired its fifth episode featuring Aamir Khan as guests.
