In the latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, Aamir Khan graced the stage as the guest of honour. The show kicked off with Kapil Sharma presenting a trolley brimming with awards to Aamir, jokingly referring to them as the awards Aamir never bothered to collect from various award shows throughout his illustrious career in Hindi cinema. Adding a touch of humour, Kapil remarked about a truck filled with awards parked at Film City, waiting for Aamir Khan to claim them.

During the show, Archana Puran Singh directly questioned Aamir about his reluctance to attend award shows and accept his awards. In response, Aamir remarked, “There is one thing very important in life, and that is time. So, we need to use it wisely.”

During the interaction, Aamir also introduced his elder sister Nikhat. He disclosed that Nikhat is an actor, who recently appeared in Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. Introducing Nikhat, Aamir said, “That’s Nikhat, my older sister dressed in pink. Have you seen Pathaan? In the movie, there’s a woman who tells Shah Rukh Khan from now on, ‘you are Pathaan,’ and ties an amulet on his shoulder – that’s my sister.”

Aamir also shared how Nikhat won three awards for her role in a short film titled Khidkiyan. However, he revealed that when he asked her not to attend the awards ceremony, she refused and proceeded to accept the awards. He recounted, “Nikhat starred in a short film called Khidkiyan, and she received three awards for her portrayal. I tried to convince her not to accept those awards, but she didn’t listen to me. She simply said, ‘Be quiet, I am going.'”

Aamir made a conscious decision to distance himself from award shows early in his career. Reports surfaced that he was nominated for his film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992) and had high hopes of winning. However, the Filmfare award for Best Actor went to Anil Kapoor for Beta.

A similar scenario unfolded in 1995 when Shah Rukh Khan won all the awards for Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, leaving Aamir, who had delivered a powerful performance in Rangeela, feeling disappointed. These experiences led Aamir to vow that he would never attend award shows again, a stance he has maintained ever since.
