This sparkler has social media buzzing.
Meghan Markle’s stunning diamond engagement ring has made plenty of headlines over the years, but some recent photos of the Duchess of Sussex have some fans speculating that she swapped out her center stone for a bigger diamond.
The 42-year-old royal modeled a “love like a mother” T-shirt in an Instagram post for her close friend Kelly Zajfen’s charity, Alliance of Moms, last week — and some eagle-eyed social media users pointed out that Markle’s three-stone engagement ring looks larger in the snaps.
In one pic, the mom of two shares a laugh with former “Suits” co-star Abigail Spencer and Zajfen while her diamond gleams in the sun.
“Is it just me or has #MeghanMarkle’s engagement ring doubled in size?” one X user wrote, in part, while sharing close-up shots of the Duchess of Sussex’s hand.
“I’ve been saying she took wedding ring off to slowly change the size of the diamond. It wasn’t big enough for her,” another X account shared.

However, others disagreed, like one X user who commented on a GB News post and wrote, “It looks the same to me. It’s the lighting and she’s wearing other rings with it.”
“A lot of women have their diamonds upgraded This is not news,” a second fan added.
While the dazzling diamond is slightly blurry in the Alliance of Moms photos, Markle attended a SXSW panel in March and a charity polo match in April while wearing her engagement ring, with the stone appearing unchanged.
Jewelry expert Maxwell Stone of Steven Stone Jewelers tells Style that it’s “nearly impossible to discern any changes from the available photo.”
However, Markle has upgraded her ring over the years, swapping out the style’s original thick yellow gold band for a skinny pavé design in June 2019 and sporting a second diamond band along with her simple gold wedding band.
She also stepped out in public without the ring — which features a center stone from Botswana and two diamonds from Princess Diana’s collection — for several months in 2023, with a source telling at the time that her jewelry was “being fixed.”
“It could be a trick of the light, or because Meghan hasn’t been wearing her ring as frequently in recent months, it could just be standing out more when she does wear it,” Stone concluded.
A representative for the Sussexes was not immediately available for comment.
