It is not a fall-out. Actor Aayush Sharma said that it was a conscious decision to “move out” of his superstar brother-in-law Salman Khan’s production house and work with newer people, as he felt the urge to “grow” and become “worthy enough” to be called back. Aayush, married to Salman’s youngest sister Arpita Khan, made his film debut with the 2018 romantic drama Loveyatri, backed by the superstar. His next was another Salman Khan Films production, Antim: The Final Truth, which also featured the superstar.

His latest actioner, Ruslaan, however, is the first time since his debut that the actor has worked with an outside production house. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, when asked “what went wrong” during his association with Salman, Aayush opened up about his decision.

He said, “It is not like that, it is my house. No actor works with only one production house. Honestly, it is very funny, but my choices have been in a lot of discussions. There are many actors who have worked in their comfort zone, worked with a particular production house, then went out, then went back to the same production house. I wanted to step out, my intention is to go out there.”

‘Salman is a big support, but journey has to be mine’

The actor said that Antim was a huge opportunity for him, and that not everybody could have been handed such a project on a platter. The actioner was released in 2022 and was a box office washout. Aayush said working with newer people now was a way for him to learn and grow.

“You don’t get to play such an important role in your second film, in a movie which has Salman. It was not a guest appearance of 5-7 minutes, he was an important character in the film. Somewhere down the line, the story revolves around my character. This opportunity you don’t get (often), but I got it. I have to be grateful, understand that this is the biggest support I can ever get. Now the journey has to be mine.

“I cannot keep working only in the family, in a closed set-up, because then my growth would also be stunted. It was a conscious decision to move out of the family for sometime to work outside. It was important for me to grow, learn myself, evolve and be worthy enough to be called back,” he added.

Earlier, Aayush Sharma was also part of Salman’s 2023 Eid release Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The actor had even shot for the film but quit the project later reportedly due to “creative differences.”
