Phase 1 of the Lok Sabha election 2024 began today with 102 parliamentary constituencies across 21 states and union territories going to polls. Tamil Nadu was also part of the first of the seven phases of the elections. The state, where the line between politics and cinema is blurred, saw many A-listers including actor-politician Kamal Haasan, the founder of Makkal Needhi Maiam, Superstar Rajinikanth, actor and Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam founder Vijay, Ajiith Kumar, Vijay Sethupathi, Vikram, Dhanush, and other celebrities cast their vote.
Vijay, who voted in Saligramam, Chennai, was mobbed by fans and the actor was visibly frustrated and tired. On the other hand, Rajinikanth was all smiles as he cast his vote in Stella Marris College. After casting his vote, the actor spoke to the media and said anyone who has a voting right should use it as a duty and responsibility.

After casting his vote, Vijay Sethupathi took a selfie with an elderly fan who was in a wheelchair. The actor’s kind gesture has moved his fans. Earlier, in a college event, the actor advised people not to vote for individuals who divide people based on caste and religion. The video went viral on social media, with the actor receiving both praise and criticism for his statement.
