Actor Vikram Kochhar is garnering a lot of praise for his performance in Dunki. Before Dunki, the actor has given noteworthy performances in various films and shows, including Bobby Deol-starrer Ashram. In a recent interview, the actor revisited his experience of working with Bobby and also shared how Dunki director Rajkumar Hirani didn’t ’embarrass’ his actors despite knowing that they got drunk for a scene.

During a chat with Siddharth Kannan, Kocchar shared that Bobby loves drinking, and during the shoot of Ashram, he loved to party with the entire cast of the web series. Recalling one such day, he said, “When I was doing Ashram, Bobby sir said, ‘Kaisa Punjabi hai, daaru nahi pii sakta? (What kind of a Punjabi you are that you cannot drink)’ I told him, ‘It’s not by choice, but my body rejects alcohol. I am allergic to smoke also.’ Still, he offered me a ‘patiala peg’. After drinking it, I was vomiting in my room.”

While with Bobby Deol he drank just for fun, during the shoot of Dunki, he drank with Vicky Kaushal to get the best out of their scene. The actor recalled, “I was a little tipsy. Vicky bhai drank a lot more than us. He was like, ‘Peete kyun nahi ho, piyo (Why aren’t you drinking? Drink).’ We were worried about the scene getting spoilt because on one side, there was Rajkumar sir, and on another side, there was Vicky bhai who was insisting that we will do the scene properly after drinking. So, we were in a turmoil. Anil (Grover) and I were looking at each other.”

Vikram Kochhar and Anil Grover were also worried about Rajkumar Hirani knowing about them drinking alcohol during the shoot of the film. But, while they were performing the scene where they are shown drunk, Hirani understood that they were drunk in real. “Vicky boldly accepted that we have to drink a little bit for such scenes. But we were looking at him and thinking, ‘He has said it, but how do we accept it, what about our impression.’ It was the initial days of the shoot also. But he (Hirani) didn’t say anything; he didn’t embarrass us.”

Dunki, also starring Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee Pannu, attracted a decent number of people to cinema halls and became an average hit. It earned over Rs 200 crore in India within two weeks of release.
