England seamer Richard Gleeson will replace injured Devon Conway in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad.
“Devon Conway has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League IPL 2024 due to an injury,” IPL said in a statement.
“CSK have added Richard Gleeson to the squad for the remainder of the IPL 2024. He will join CSK for his reserve price of Rs 50 lakh”
New Zealand opener Conway has represented CSK over the course of the last two IPL seasons. The southpaw has played 23 matches and scored 924 runs, which included 9 half-centuries and a highest score of 92 not out.
Rohit and Kohli tormentor
The 36-year-old Glesson has represented England in 6 T20Is and has 9 wickets against his name. Additionally, Gleeson has played 90 T20s and picked 101 T20 wickets.
Gleeson, at the age of 34 years and 219 days, became the third-oldest debutant for England in T20Is. He made his day more memorable when he sent back Rohit Sharma in his very first over, followed by Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant.
The India captain top-edged a pull and Buttler completed the catch running backwards. On the first ball of Gleeson’s next over, Dawid Malan took an even better catch to dismiss Kohli. Pant, who gave charge to Gleeson as well but was cramped and ended up getting an inside edge to Buttler.
