Following a shocking incident on Sunday morning, in which two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle fired multiple shots outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s Bandra residence in Mumbai, authorities have launched a full-scale investigation. The incident occurred around 5 am, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. Salman Khan’s father and noted screenwriter, Salim Khan has opened up about the incident and assured that the family is safe, dismissing it as a mere ‘publicity stunt’ pulled by the unidentified men who fired the shots. “There is nothing to tell. They just want publicity, there is no need to worry,” he told CNN News 18.

A Facebook post allegedly uploaded by Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, claims responsibility for the firing, calling the incident outside Salman’s Galaxy Apartment the ‘first and last warning’. Later, on Sunday evening, police sources identified one of the suspects captured on CCTV as Vishal alias Kalu, a shooter in the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Authorities have imposed heightened security measures for Salman who already has Y-plus category security cover. Barriers have been erected on key roads as the search for the suspects intensifies.

Following the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 9, Raj Tilak Roushan, told ANI, “Two unknown persons came on a motorbike and fired rounds outside actor Salman Khan’s house around 5 am and escaped. Around 4-5 rounds were fired. We have formed 15 police teams to probe the matter. We are investigating the case from all angles. We will certainly nab the shooters soon.”

This is not the first time Salman Khan has been targeted, as he previously received death threats from Canada-based fugitive gangster Goldy Brar, who publicly declared the actor was on his gang’s hit list. Last year, Mumbai Police filed an FIR against gangsters Bishnoi and Goldy, along with another individual, following an email threatening Salman at his Mumbai residence.

Prem Raj Soni, who directed Salman’s Main Aur Mrs Khanna and lives in the same building as Salman, told IndiaToday.in, “He’s absolutely fine from what I know. Everything’s being taken care of. Things are under control and there’s nothing to worry about.” He further added the incident was rather ‘scary’ for others. “It’s rather worrying for all of us. But honestly, the authorities are taking care of it and we are all safe,” he added.

After the gunfire incident, several celebrities and notable personalities paid a visit to Salman’s house including Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray and Salman’s sister Arpita Sharma.
