Actor-producer Siddharth was recently in the news for his engagement with actress Aditi Rao Hydari. And once again the South actor has made headlines for his indirect dig at Ranbir Kapoor‘s 2023 film Animal. At an event recently, Siddharth expressed disappointment over people’s claims of finding his latest movie Chithha ‘disturbing’. The actor also revealed that he didn’t get screens to release the Telugu version of the film simultaneously. Siddharth’s 2023 film Chithha dealt with the subject of child sexual abuse.

Talking at the event, Siddharth said, “No woman has ever approached me or Arun (the director of Chithha) and told us that they couldn’t watch the film or it was disturbing. But many men have admitted that to us. They said they won’t watch such kinds of movies. But, they can watch a film titled Mirugam (Tamil version of Animal), but my film was too disturbing for them. It’s not disturbance, it’s shame and guilt. It’s okay, it will soon change.”

The Rang De Basanti actor also revealed that even though top distributors in the South called Chithha a good film and KGF producers watched the movie and secured the rights, yet, he faced issues in finding screens to release the film’s Telugu version alongside the Tamil one. Siddharth said, “The film was supposed to be released simultaneously in Telugu. But, many asked, ‘Who’ll come and watch Siddharth’s movies?’ I told them that if I made a good film, people would come to see it. This should have been released on September 28. I couldn’t get theatres because of this reason. Asian Films’ Sunil Garu saw the film’s potential and stood by me. I haven’t made a film as good as this. After watching it, if you feel that you don’t want to watch Siddharth’s film, then I won’t hold any press meets like this.”

Chithha is written and directed by SU Arun Kumar. It also starred Nimisha Sajayan and baby Sahasra Sree. The film was produced by Siddharth under his banner Etaki Entertainment.
