Actor Suchitra Krishnamoorthi spoke about prioritising her daughter while maintaining a cordial relationship with her ex-husband, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, and said that after they split up, she gave into the pressure of finding a new partner. In an interview, Suchitra said that she was quite forward in approaching some men in her friend circle, and got a reality check with director Ken Ghosh told her off.

Suchitra was asked about this phase in her life in an interview with Zoom Entertainment, “I did go through a lot of confusion after I had just divorced. Everybody was telling me that I have to find a partner, and that I wouldn’t be able to manage alone. I started believing that maybe I have to find someone. Toh jo bhi mile, party mein, yahan wahan… Then it became a joke. There were Nagesh Kukunoor, and Ken Ghosh…”

Suchitra continued, “Ken Ghosh, in fact, I had met him at a party, and I was trying to be bold and provocative. He said, ‘Suchi, what are you doing? A face like yours cannot have a cleavage’.” Suchitra said that ‘when you have a child, your options close’, as she addressed her equation with Shehkar Kapur. “You have to be nice, because it’s no longer about you or the other person, it’s about the child. We are civil people, and we continue to remain civil. Our feelings don’t matter. You do what needs to be done, not what you feel like doing,” she said.

She also spoke about the rumour that she approached Ram Gopal Varma to marry her, but said that it was all a misunderstanding. She said that she jokingly asked RGV to marry her, and the filmmaker immediately summoned her to his office and told her that he isn’t cut out for marriage. “I just like women’s bodies, not their brains,” he said to her. Suchitra said that she is currently single, and not particularly interested in finding someone, unless they enrich her life.
