Upon being asked about the comeback of Mr India, Boney told Bollywood Hungama, “It surely will come back. In times to come, it will. In fact, recently, I have been approached by a foreign studio, western studio… so it’s going to be a.. it could be a combination of Zee, Boney Kapoor and that foreign studio, we could be collaborating,” he said.

The filmmaker also added that things were at a “premature level” so it was too early for an official announcement. He said, “Things are at a premature level so I can’t really talk much but it will happen. In 2020, there was some buzz around the sequel of Mr India, which, at the time, was being helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar. Ali had tweeted, “Excited to partner with @ZeeStudios_ for an epic trilogy #MrIndia! It is a huge responsibility to carry forward an iconic character loved by everyone. Currently, working on the script, no actor has been locked till now. Once we lock the first draft of the script, casting begins!”

At the time, Anil Kapoor’s daughter Sonam Kapoor claimed that neither her father Anil, nor director Shekhar Kapur were aware of Ali’s film. She shared on Instagram, “A lot of people have been asking me about the Mr India remake. Honestly, my father didn’t even know that the film was being remade, we found about it through social media when Ali Abbas Zafar tweeted. It’s quite disrespectful and underhanded, if it is true, since no one bothered to ask my father or Shekhar uncle – two people who made a major role in making the film what it was and what it is.” The film was produced by Anil’s brother Boney.

Boney Kapoor recently announced the sequel of the 2005 film No Entry, which originally starred Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan and Fardeen Khan. The new movie will star Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Arjun Kapoor and in this chat, Boney said that the film will star 10 female actors, and will be directed by Anees Bazmee.
