Will Smith’s Mike Lowrey and Martin Lawrence’s Marcus Burnett are back together as the makers of Bad Boys 4, officially titled Bad Boys 4: Ride or Die, dropped the film’s trailer on Tuesday. It is directed by filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.

The trailer kicks off with Marcus’s signature quirks, but the duo soon finds themselves in a serious predicament when their boss, Captain Howard (Joe Pantoliano), is framed as a longtime drug smuggler. The rest of the trailer showcases their efforts to clear his name, featuring intense car chases, explosive action sequences, and the iconic buddy comedy dynamic that defines the franchise.

This marks the fourth installment in the beloved action-comedy series that began in 1995, with Smith and Lawrence portraying Miami PD detectives investigating illegal drug activity in the city. While the first two films were helmed by Michael Bay, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah directed the previous installment, Bad Boys for Life, and are returning for this latest chapter. Joining Smith and Lawrence are Alexander Ludwig, Vanessa Hudgens, Eric Dane, Paola Núñez, Rhea Seehorn, Tasha Smith, and Ioan Gruffudd in pivotal roles.

The first Bad Boys film premiered in 1995, followed by Bad Boys 2 in 2003. After a 17-year hiatus, Bad Boys for Life hit theatres in 2020, just before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are set to wow their fans as they make a comeback to theatres together on June 7.

Meanwhile, in Bollywood, the trailer for another buddy action comedy, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, was also released on Tuesday. However, unlike Bad Boys 4, the two actors portray soldiers rather than cops.

Earlier on Tuesday, as Akshay Kumar launched the trailer of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, he compared his film to Bad Boys. “So we always knew that the film was going to be just like ‘Bad Boys’. You know, I’m not saying the story is the same, but it will be like ‘Bad Boys’ because the film has lots of action and a very subtle kind of comedy,” he said.
