Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput loved playing Holi and social media photos of him with his then-girlfriend and Bigg Boss 17 finalist Ankita Lokhande are proof that the former couple created some beautiful memories together while soaking in the festivities.
A video compilation, recently shared by Lehren Retro on its YouTube channel, with unseen footage of Sushant and Ankita attending a Holi party, has been grabbing the internet’s attention. In the video, Sushant, dressed in a white shirt and covered in colours, is seen applying gulaal on others. Accompanied by Ankita, who is in a fun mood, Sushant also dances for the media.
During their seven-year relationship, which blossomed on the set of the hit Hindi television series Pavitra Rishta, the couple made several public appearances, but the unseen video from the Holi bash shows the couple in a completely jovial mood.
In the rare Holi celebration video, the duo can be seen enjoying the festivities with a lighthearted twist. Sushant jokingly describes his unconventional approach to playing Holi, which includes using eggs and mud to create a more “decent” atmosphere. “If your face is not covered in colours, did you even play Holi? We chose to wear white so that colours are visible,” he is heard telling the media. While Ankita added, “Once we play Holi, you won’t be able to recognise us.”
Ankita, when asked to show her favourite Holi dance moves, performs a thumka as Sushant whistles and mimics Amitabh Bachchan’s steps from “Rang Barse”. The couple can also be seen saying “Bura Naa Maano Holi Hai” as they smear colours on each other’s faces.
During an interview with Hindustan Times, Sushant had once said he loved playing Holi more than Ankita and likes to play it ‘dirty’. “I play dirty Holi, and although Ankita pretends to be very enthusiastic about it, she is the first one to shy away from colours,” he added. However, Ankita was quick to react, “Though Sushant would like to believe that he has more fun, I become a livewire on Holi, and I paint the town red… quite literally.”
