Actor Jr NTR on Tuesday informed his fans that he is back in India after spending a week in Japan, which was hit by an earthquake measuring 7.6 magnitude, subsequent aftershocks and a tsunami. At least 12 people were killed by the quake and rescue and relief operations are going on in the country. The RRR star said his heart goes out to those affected by the calamity.

Jr NTR took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote that he is grateful for the ‘resilience’ of the people and hoped for a ‘swift’recovery.

“Back home today from Japan and deeply shocked by the earthquakes hitting. Spent the entire last week there, and my heart goes out to everyone affected. Grateful for the resilience of the people and hoping for a swift recovery. Stay strong, Japan 🇯🇵”

About a thousand army personnel have been dispatched to the worst-hit areas in the country’s relatively remote Noto peninsula, however, according to news agency Reuters, rescue operations have been hindered by badly damaged and blocked roads.

On the work front, Jr NTR will be next seen in Devara, a new poster of which was launched on Tuesday. Directed by Koratala Siva, the film is set in a coastal town and will mark Jr NTR’s first screen project after the global success of RRR.

Devara marks the South film debut of Janhvi Kapoor, who is collaborating with Jr NTR for the first time. Devara will be released in two parts, a decision which the makers arrived as the canvas was “too big” to be squeezed into one film. The first part of the film will release on April 5.
