At the third day of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding festivities, there was dancing, singing and a display of mutual admiration. International singer Akon praised Shah Rukh Khan and said he loves the superstar like his “brother”. The duo had worked together on two songs, “Criminal” and the chartbuster “Chammak Challo”, from the actor’s ambitious movie Ra.One. The latter became one of the most talked about songs of the time, and continues to be a banger dance number dominating party playlists.

Akon’s performance also got the illustrious guests grooving at the bash in Jamnagar, where global leaders, Bollywood celebrities and sportspersons were present. In a video, shortly before Akon broke into his “Chammak Challo” performance, the singer pulled Shah Rukh towards the stage by his hand. Akon then addresseds the gathering while holding the actor’s arms.

“This man right here has helped me so much in India. I love him like a brother. He has always been there and believed in me. He told me, ‘Akon, they will love you in India we have to work together’, and sure enough, we made one of the biggest records in history today,” he said, as Shah Rukh hugged him and gave him a kiss. “Love you brother,” Akon added.

Akon’s performance got Shah Rukh dancing with his daughter Suhana, wife Gauri and even superstar Salman Khan, who played drums with the singer.

The grand three-day bash held in Gujarat’s Jamnagar began with a performance by popstar Rihanna and came to a close with Akon belting out his chartbusters. Other musical guests were Arijit Singh, Udit Narayan, Lucky Ali and more.
