Choreographer Bosco Martis said that contrary to popular belief, Salman Khan isn’t ‘the opposite’ of Shah Rukh Khan when it comes to hard work and dedication. In an interview, Bosco was asked which actors surrender willingly, and which of them resist choreographers’ instructions. When Bosco praised Shah Rukh and Saif Ali Khan for being exceptionally willing to follow direction, he was asked if it’s true that Salman does his own thing.

He told Siddharth Kannan, “It’s not true. With Salman bhai, during Partner, we did 27 takes for ‘Maria Maria’. We were in Abu Dhabi, it was 1 in the afternoon, in scorching heat, we kept going at it over and over again. There was one move that he just couldn’t nail. So on the 15th take, I went to him and said ‘okay’, and walked away. He knew that I wasn’t satisfied, and that I just wanted to move on. He called me said, ‘Till the time you don’t get, don’t say okay. I’ll do it even if it requires 100 takes’.”

Bosco said that Salman is very aware of how popular his dance steps are, and that his audience ‘celebrates’ him for his on-screen persona, which includes his signature steps. “On ‘You’re My Love’, we kept it simple. We kept a walk, the attitude, the swag, and it becomes a style. It’s all him.” Bosco was then asked if it’s true that Salman is prone to changing fully choreographed steps at the last minute, and leaving the dancers in a tough spot because they’d spent days rehearsing them.

He took a moment and said, “It happens sometimes, but that’s only because the steps don’t suit him. There are a lot of deliverables in play. An actor is so consumed by work, doing so many schedules, and sometimes there’s a time crunch.” Asked to pick the better dancer between Shah Rukh and Salman, Bosco took the diplomatic route and said that they have ‘distinct’ styles, and ‘they’re too good to be compared’.
