Aamir Khan is known to be a perfectionist. Recently, his co-star from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Andaz Apna Apna, Shehzad Khan revealed if Aamir was just like that even during his debut film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, which also starred Juhi Chawla in the lead role.

Talking to Siddharth Kannan, Shehzad said, “Our director Mansoor Khan was very good. He knew his job, even then Aamir had the virus of giving advice. But Mansoor would do what he wanted. Even Nasir uncle never came on set. He had given Mansoor total liberty with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. There were two endings shot. Nasir Sahab wanted a positive end and Mansoor wanted to keep it negative. Nasir Sahab faced a tough time selling the movie to distributors and once it happened it created history.”

Shehzad Khan even praised Aamir Khan and said, “Aamir had done a film before this (Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak) called Raaq, which had not been released then, and another film too. He was also an AD to Nasir Hussain so he was quite prepared. Today also he is one of the finest actors.”

During the interview, Shehzad Khan even revisited some memories from Andaz Apna Apna. Speaking about Aamir and Salman’s fights, Shehzad confirmed, “I have seen it happen in front of my eyes. Many times, things would happen. Salman is Salman, and Aamir is Aamir. I won’t blame anyone for it. Often, I used to be the bridge between them. I have been very close to Salman since childhood, so things used to be sorted out. Aamir would reach the Madh Island bungalow at 7–7.30 in the morning when call time used to be 9 am. Salman bechaare 10-11 baje tak aa hi jaate the (poor Salman would come by 10-11). We all know how difficult it is to come from Bandra. Kabhi gaadi kharab, kabhi kuch kharab (Sometimes the car broke down or sometimes something else).”

He also shared an incident where his father Ajit Khan got angry with him after watching Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Revisiting that memory, Shehzad told Kannan if he had told his father about mimicking his voice in the film, he would not have allowed it. “I kept it a secret from my father, and when the film was released, he was very upset with me for converting his tone into comedy. He was very angry. Ultimately he came around. I worshipped my father after God. When I buried my father in Hyderabad, I didn’t eat for days. He never knew how much I loved him from all his children.”

Shehzad Khan was last seen on the small screen in Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah.
