On Saturday, Sachin Tendulkar met Jammu and Kashmir Para cricket team captain Amir Hussain Lone, and gifted him a signed bat.

Sachin posted a video on X, formerly Twitter and asked Amir about what is happening in his life. Pat came the reply, “Cricket khel rahe hai sir (I am playing cricket).

“Aaj mujhe bahut khushi hui (Today, I am very happy). Zindagi mey umeed nahi haari, yahi soch ke mai chala (I have never lost hope in my life and it’s been my motto).”

To Amir, the real hero. Keep inspiring!

Sachin narrated Amir’s journey about how he had met with an accident when he was 8 years old. Amir Lone lost both his arms in an accident at his father’s mill. Amir has been playing cricket professionally since 2013 after a teacher discovered his cricketing talent and introduced him to Para Cricket.

“After the accident, I didn’t lose hope and worked hard. I can do everything by myself and I am not dependent on anyone.

“In 2013 I was picked for J&K para cricket team. Aap mere inspiration rahe ho (You are my inspiration),” Amir told Sachin.

“I played nationals in Delhi in 2013 and in 2018, I played an international match against Bangladesh. After that, I played cricket in Nepal, Sharjah and Dubai. Everyone was shocked to see me playing with my legs (bowling) and batting with my shoulder and neck. I thank God for giving me the strength to play cricket.”

Sachin gifted a bat to Amir with a message “Amir the real hero,” and asked him to show how he picks it up.

“Stance dikhao,” asks Sachin.

Amir picks the bat with the help of his feet and holds it with his neck and shadow practiced alongside with Sachin.

And Amir has made the impossible possible. I am so touched watching this! Shows how much love and dedication he has for the game.

Hope I get to meet him one day and get a jersey with his name. Well done for inspiring millions who are passionate about playing the sport. https://t.co/s5avOPXwYT
