At the beginning of his career, Shah Rukh Khan was helped by actor-producer Vivek Vaswani, who not only strategised his entry into Hindi cinema, but also let him stay at his house during the days of struggle. But now, the two share “no” relationship. It has been four years since Vaswani and SRK talked, let alone meet.
While interacting with Siddharth Kannan, Vaswani shared that he last met SRK four years ago at his birthday party. Speaking about his relationship with the star, Vaswani said, “We don’t have a relationship. We don’t talk. We don’t meet, but when we do, it’s as if the years were not there. I am not a suburbanite. I am a teacher. I am the dean of a school. I work 18 hours a day. I travel by bus, local train, and Shah Rukh is a superstar.”
But the film producer, who last worked with Shah Rukh Khan on Dulha Mil Gaya (2010), maintains that they continue to be “fond” of each other, and he would someday like to direct or produce a film with Shah Rukh’s daughter Suhana. “I think Suhana has tremendous potential, more than any other actress. I don’t think Shah Rukh Khan would say no. Why should he? If I was good for him, I am good enough for his daughter,” Vaswani said.

The last time Vivek Vaswani met Shah Rukh was at the actor’s birthday party at Mannat in 2018. The filmmaker-turned-educationist shared, “I went to his birthday party four years ago. He told me specifically, ‘Sir, aa jaao, bachchon se milvana chahta hoon (Sir, please come, I want you to meet my kids). I had great fun at the party. When we meet, we are very good.”
He also narrated how Shah Rukh Khan introduced him to Aanand L Rai at the party and shared how Vaswani never asked for a favour from him despite his stardom. “Anand Rai was standing next to me, and he told Anand bhai, while pointing towards his party, ‘Do you see all these people, everyone owes me, I have given someone a car, someone a flat. But this man standing here hasn’t taken a cup of tea from me yet,'” shared the film producer.

‘Shah Rukh Khan has 17 phones’
Asked why he didn’t call his friend in the last four years, when he was facing a hard time in life and was battling cancer, Vaswani said, “He (SRK) has 17 phones, and I have one number. If he picks it up only then I can talk. I called him after Jawan, but he didn’t pick up. When I was in the shower, he called, which I didn’t pick up. He is travelling all the time. He also has responsibilities. He runs an empire, so I am okay.”
Shah Rukh Khan had three releases in 2023, Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki, all of them hits. A few reports suggest that the actor will start shooting for Pathaan 2 by the end of 2024.
