The news of the 19-year-old actor Suhani Bhatnagar’s death left the Hindi film industry in shock on Saturday. Suhani was seen as the child actor in Aamir Khan’s Dangal. She played the younger version of wrestler Babita Phogat and her role was carried forward in the film by Sanya Malhotra. Suhani succumbed to an auto-immune disease called Dermatomyositis. Many of Suhani’s co-stars from Dangal expressed grief over her death. On Sunday, Sanya Malhotra took to social media and paid her condolences to the late actor’s family.

Sanya wrote on Instagram, “I can’t believe it’s real. There was no one quite like our Suhani. She was so special, so talented, and way too young to have left us so soon. Rest in peace, Chotu. My deepest condolences to Pooja, Puneet, and the entire family.”

On Saturday, offering their condolences, Aamir Khan Productions also took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, “We are deeply saddened to hear about our Suhani passing away. Our heartfelt condolences to her mother Poojaji, and the entire family. Such a talented young girl, and such a team player, Dangal would have been incomplete without Suhani. Suhani, you will always remain a star in our hearts. May you rest in peace.”

Suhani’s parents also recently addressed the media and shared details about their daughter’s demise. Suhani’s father told the media, “She was performing very well in college, she even topped in the last semester. She was brilliant in everything and wanted to excel in whatever she wanted to do. Our daughter has made us very proud.”
