BTS’ RM aka Kim Namjoon might be taking a break from his band but fans have been eager to see him ever since he went for his mandatory military training. RM recently penned a heartfelt and emotional note for his fans on Weverse on the occasion of Lunar New Year.
In the viral pictures doing rounds on the internet, the singer was seen in his military band uniform, looking sharp. A photo of him holding a saxophone while dressed in a bright red uniform went viral among fans on February 15. Alongside the uniform, RM wore a badge on his shoulder, white gloves, and a navy blue peaked cap, capturing fans’ attention.
The user who shared the picture wrote on X, “I received a photo of military band namjoonie at my friend’s completion ceremony. He said everyone liked 15th Division military band.” According to reports, RM has joined the military band and was performing at the graduation ceremony.

Another user explained, “Many people seem to be curious about why saxophone. Military bands practice marching music, so they have to choose one wind instrument. You can choose a suitable wind instrument from among saxophone, horn, clarinet or piccolo. Some are new to it.”
All seven BTS members are now serving their mandatory 18-month-long military training in the army. Jin was the first to enlist in 2022, followed by J-Hope and SUGA in 2023. The rest—RM, V, Jungkook, and Jimin joined in December 2023.
RM started his military service on December 11, along with his BTS bandmate Kim Taehyung. On January 15, BIGHIT MUSIC confirmed they finished their basic training. They were among only four elite trainees out of 800 soldiers to receive awards.
